On November 9, 2023, the Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) and the Croatian think tank Center for Public Policy and Economic Analysis (CEA) marked 300 years since the birth of Adam Smith.
THE LEGACY
Known as the father of economics and modern capitalism, Adam Smith is one of the most notable political-economic and moral philosophers of the 18th-century Scottish Enlightenment. In fact, the interdisciplinary nature of Adam Smith’s free market ideas influenced many public policies and reforms in developed countries, as seen in their levels of economic freedom and standards of living.
